The Austrian Ecolabel has been certifying tourism businesses since 1996 and destinations since 2023. CB is a member of the advisory board and an auditor for destinations.
TourCert, the non-profit organization for tourism certification, awards the CSR seal to tourism companies. The organization was founded in 2009 by four non-profit organizations. Christian Baumgartner is a member of the Advisory Board and an auditor.
Christian is co-founder of TourCert Austria as an independent partner of TourCert Gmbh in Stuttgart. In close cooperation, we carry out TourCert sustainability certification processes for destinations in Austria. The many years of experience in the areas of sustainable tourism development, digitalisation, the management of tourism organisations as well as the tools and many years of certification experience of TourCert guarantee maximum effectiveness and efficient implementation.
Christian Baumgartner is on the advisory board of the Swiss eco-label for accommodation.
Futouris is an organisation of travel agencies and tourism enterprises that support projects designed to promote sustainable tourism. Christian Baumgartner is a member of the Scientific Advisory Committee which he is representing on the Executive Board.
forum anders reisen e.V. is an association of travel companies committed to sustainable tourism. Founded in 1998, forum anders reisen now has approximately 140 members. Christian Baumgartner serves as a member of the Forum’s Advisory Board.
The Tourism 4 Tomorrow Expert group is an advisory body to the EU commission. CB is member in the sustainability sub-group.
Worldwide Hiking Works! – Christian Baumgartner is Vice President of the organization Worldwide Hiking Works!. Worldwide Hiking Works! empowers people to become self-reliant and strengthens their ability to lead independent lives. Through projects in countries such as Nepal, Morocco, and Peru, educational opportunities and prospects are created locally, in line with the motto “Education Creates the Future.”
Faircations is an online portal for sustainable travel, founded in 2021 and based in Munich. Christian Baumgartner is a member of the sustainability board.
Since its founding in 1952, CIPRA has brought together people and organizations committed to sustainable development in the Alps—spanning linguistic, cultural, geographical, and political boundaries. Its membership consists of over 100 associations, organizations, and individuals. Christian Baumgartner served for many years as Vice President of CIPRA International, which is headquartered in Liechtenstein.
The JARO Institute is a non-profit association based in Berlin (Germany) and aims to make sustainable action the standard in business, administration and organizations of all kinds. For this purpose, the institute imparts relevant knowledge e.g. through its JARO Academy, connects people and organizations and works with them on the implementation of the SDGs. Christian Baumgartner is a member of the advisory board.
During his time as manager of respect, Christian Baumgartner upgraded the Austrian branch of ECPAT – the global network dedicated to protecting children – together with the current manager Astrid Winkler, and, in 2003, he assisted in getting it established as an association in its own right.
